Nothing is once again taking its unique design philosophy forward with the new Ear 3 earbuds. This time, not only the looks, but also the build quality and features have seen noticeable improvements.
Premium Build
Where previous models used plastic enclosures, the Ear 3 has been given a partial aluminum build instead. The teaser shows that an aluminum slab has been added to one side of the charging case, which is placed between the transparent plastic lid and the base of the case. As a result, the entire box is stronger, and has a premium look. Which is quite attractive to look at.
Super Mic and Talk Button
The biggest feature is a new button, which is made of aluminum frame and placed next to the USB Type-C port, speaker and microphone. The company calls it Super Mic. Although there is no clear information about its functionality, it is known that it is not just a voice command or calling experience, but can be directly linked to Nothing’s ChatGPT integration. Where ChatGPT was used as the default voice assistant in previous Ear models, the Ear 3 is expected to improve this experience further.

Familiar but upgraded design
The earbuds have retained the same transparent casing as before, which will give Nothing’s signature look. However, this time it has been added with more silver metallic accents. The company claims that they have increased the precision of the design this time and reduced the gaps between the components, which has made the earbuds’ ultra-thin design possible. In particular, the metal antenna has been rebuilt and its thickness has been reduced to just 0.35 mm. This is currently the lowest limit in the industry, Nothing states.

Why is there no KEF branding?
One thing that has aroused curiosity among users is the complete absence of Sound by KEF branding on the Ear 3 or its charging case. Nothing announced earlier this year that it would be collaborating with British audio brand KEF to create audio products. While the Nothing Headphone 1 hinted at the partnership, the absence of that branding on the Ear 3 is a surprise. While it’s possible that KEF’s tuning may still be present on the Ear 3, the company isn’t promoting it in the form of branding.
What to expect?
Nothing has always marketed its earbuds as more than just a gadget, but a design statement. The Ear 3’s aluminum frame, new “Super Mic” setup, and slimmer, more premium design reinforce this concept. Now that it’s out, the focus will be on how much better its sound quality, AI-powered experience, and battery life have been.
All in all, the Ear 3 isn’t just an upgrade like its predecessor, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in Nothing’s audio line.
