Manoj Bajpayee now flies into the fantasy world of Ram Reddy—Jugnuma is known in the international market as The Fable. Here, magic is not limited to imagination only, but is perfectly blended with everyday life.
The central character of the film, Dev (Manoj Bajpayee), owns a garden in Himachal. They have a happy family with their wife (Priyanka Bose) and two children. But one day, suddenly, a part of his garden is burnt to ashes in a fire. Although the villagers are on duty to guard it, suspicions are raised towards them. From here, the story takes a new turn.

This film moves slowly at its own pace. There is no rush. In the first scene, Dev is shown spreading a pair of huge wings that he has made and flying into the sky—as if magic is a part of his life.
The most attractive aspect of the film is its visual beauty. Director Ram Reddy has taken the bold decision to use grainy filmstock to make the 1980s atmosphere more authentic. This style adds a whole new dimension to the glittering digital imagery.
Cinematographer Sunil Borkar’s camera transforms each frame into a painting. Sunil Borkar, a former national level shooter, is mesmerized by the scenes himself.
At the same time, some subtle elements also have a great impact. For example, the video camera that the family’s youngest son plays with, which later becomes a secret witness to the story.
There is nothing new to say about Manoj Bajpayee’s performance – he lives like a god here. There is no acting pomp in the character, everything is natural. Priyanka Bose is a complete complement to his wife, and Deepak Dobriyal catches the eye as the manager. Notably, many of the actors in the film are trained local villagers, which adds a different kind of authenticity to the story.
The movie Jugnuma ultimately proves that fairy tales are not just about magic, but about the deep truths hidden within ordinary life. This movie not only raises questions, but also creates a strange atmosphere that leaves a mark on the minds of the audience.
