Such a sad moment of being out is rarely seen. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was run out at the non-striker’s end against Oman in the Asia Cup match in Abu Dhabi.

The incident happened on the third ball of the eighth over. Pandya’s partner Sanju Samson was at the crease at the time. Samson’s strong drive touched the finger of bowler Jait Ramanandi and the ball hit the stumps directly. Pandya was out of the game by then, he did not have time to return. As a result, his forehead was burned.

Pandya’s luck has not been on his side at all in this tournament. He did not get a chance to bat in the first two matches (against Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates). He gave away 10 runs in 1 over with the ball once, and took 1/34 in 3 overs in another match. This time, even though he came out to bat, he was a victim of utter misfortune.

India’s score was 125/4 at the end of 12 overs. Samson was unbeaten on 43 (33) with partner Shivam Dubey 2 (2). Shah Faisal dismissed Shubman Gill for just 5 runs. However, Abhishek Sharma (38 off 15 balls) and Samson put on a 66-run stand for the second wicket. Pandya’s misfortune happened after Sharma was dismissed.

Axar Patel scored a blistering 26 off 13 balls with the bat, but was later dismissed by Amir Kalim. As a result, Samson and Dubey took charge at the crease.

India made a slight change in the batting order in this match. Samson was sent at number three and Pandya at number four – giving rest to Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma. This was probably a tactic to get them batting practice before the Super Fours. Although luck was on Samson’s side, Pandya suffered a very strange dismissal.
